Basic Steamed Brown Rice Makes about 3 cups. Ingredients: 1 tablespoon soy margarine 1 cup long-grain brown rice, rinsed and drained 2 cups vegetable stock In a medium saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, melt margarine over medium-high heat. When margarine is hot and bubbly, add drained rice and saute until grains are dried and seperate. Add vegetable stock and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer undisturbed for about 45 to 50 minutes, until all liquid is abosorbed. Remove pan from heat and let sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork and serve.
